MONDAY MUSINGS: A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY...

Monday Musings have an analogy cooking.  In fact, the saying a little goes a long way seems to work. Most of you readers know my efforts to keep  annual plants going throughout the winter after being moved inside in early fall. Although the green plants may bloom and add more color to winter days, it is the laundry tubs of herbs that keep on giving for our cooking endeavors.

For example on Sunday's breakfast menu was a new endeavor called Menemen, a Turkish version of the Israeli egg dish Shakshouka. But after reading the last ingredient for the recipe, basil, I cringed as last summer's gifted basil plant had seen better days, been harvested and dried.

After double checking one of the tubs, there growing atop the basil plant were a couple stems with new leaves with plenty to add the Menemen, a lovely additional flavor with the feta atop the egg dish.

So what's the analogy?

Perhaps our basil plant represents us after this long period of social distancing as the past 10 months have taken their toll. One might say we are worn out like the plant but there's renewed hope with the plant's new leaves. For us, the green future are those vaccinations although small in number, growing and eventually doing what they need to do ...

What? You think the analogy is a bit far fetched ?

Hey, it's my musing about a little going a long way...
