TBT: HIGH TEA BRITISH STYLE

Some long time traditions fascinate us since our country is not as old as others and one of these is High Tea which one can experience at the grandeur of the Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia,

One saw all kinds of attire but some ladies always know a princess gown is suitable...

The decorum seemed to call for white gloves but not a pair were to be seen... Our travel agent Nick supplied a special treat of bubbly for a toast but truly the steeped tea with a granular timer sufficed the occasion... Pinkies up.

And the special tea treats were exquisite and suitable to our table's palates.

A closer look one could sweet choices on the top tier ( BIG YUM) and more savory tea sandwiches on the second and not to be omitted crumpets on the bottom with strawberry jam and clotted cream. Simply delightful.

I actually did something quite gauche. quite American and asked for a take-home box because I couldn't stand these delicacies being tossed. No four people could polish off the entirety.

When yours truly learned the cost of our High Tea's visit,  I almost choked since its price tag was $125 per person.

But I suppose we gardeners deserve an afternoon of royalty... You know we are Queenagers.

*By the way, I did make a little picnic out of my leftovers for our next day's outing.
