TBT: WHAT'S THE BUZZ? TELL ME WHAT'S A HAPPENING

Mother Nature decided to finish some of her big pruning job she started almost a week ago on the old Bitter Nut Hickory below the barn. As a reminder the tree's downside third had split and fallen after a night of strong winds inbetween our goat being dropped off late morning and the AC man's arrival. Definitely too close for comfort...

Well, this a.m. our next door neighbor texted as he had encountered the remainder of that ginormous tree across our road on his morning walk. Wish I had a video cam to have seen him limbo/ shimmy those huge branches to get to reception to send that text. BTW Natureman had just mentioned plans to be take down more of the tree the other day but Mother Nature decided she wouldn't wait out the week. She dumped a lot of rain fall to finish up falling that tree.

How once again could we not have heard it falling ? It was ginormous. This was taken from up above by the barn.

Fortunately the very same neighbor returned with his truck and chainsaw and got more than his morning walk. Both men put their chain saws to work first removing smaller branches before tackling those main branches across the road. Smoke and sawdust ensued as each chainsaw worked their hardest especially when their chains would  get caught up during a cut. Standing back I waited and moved pieces over to join last week's work. I can vouch for the density of those cut log pieces as being a bear even to roll much less pick up.

The road was made passable and since the truck had to go turn around by the house, the guys decided to fill the truck bed. After helping load some smaller logs, I 'let' the guys handle loading some of the 100 lb pieces. No longer needed this sweat dripping sawdust laden city mouse trudged back up to the house.  (Yeah,  'actually didn't want to be witness to one of their backs going out.) They finished filling the truckbed and were back up at the house in 15 minutes to unload the first of many loads to come  later this summer/ fall...

First truck bed load was plenty weight...
At least another day/ two of chainsaw buzzing awaits. We beat the day's rain none too soon and the 2 expected UPS/ FedEx trucks  won't have to be surprised with this downed monster across their path.  That wouldn't have been a pretty sight!

Missing most of my morning live exercise class, I opted for the late afternoon class. Experience told me those back and arm muscles would need loosening if I wanted to roll out of bed the morning after. It was a good decision. I can't even imagine what sounds will emanate as Natureman awakes. Maybe we'll even hear our neighbor from half a mile away from the End of the Rainbow Valley... Thanks 'mucho' Patrick for your help -AND thank heavens for neighbors with chainsaws.
