Artists are often called upon to donate our talents to various worthy causes. That would be the “other” calling.

Fundraisers and auctions for people facing health or other challenges, school and church benefits, plays, children’s and adult organizations all call on talented people of their community to donate their innate gifts.

Winona local Sheryl Miller created the Light Up a Life social and auction fundraiser to benefit individuals with Down Syndrome and other disabilities who receive services at Winona DAC, ORC and Home and Community Options. Two of River Arts Alliance’s visual artists, Marilyn Ezdon and Mary Singer, have accepted a call to transform a full size mannequin into an unique decorative lamp. They, along with other area artists and clients from DAC, ORC and HCO, have created 10 mannequin lamps.
The lamps will be available to be seen at Home and Community Options and WNB Financial in early October.
