WOODSY WOODS...

After lunch two stayed behind and 5 of us filled the afternoon with two more studio visits.

Polarski Cedar Products is located in Three Lakes.
We mistook the utility/storage space with wooden furniture as all we would be seeing.

We would soon discover much more as we were beckoned by Linda Polarski from the house across the parking lot.

Linda shared her story of  becoming interested in wood working at a young age as she was intrigued how furniture could stay together without nails. Her father encouraged her passion and curiosity.

Now a senior citizen, her showroom and work shops are jam packed with her thousands of hours of dedication and love to the craft.

Using photographs of museum pieces carved between the 16th and 19th centuries she has created amazing reproductions of these designs.

No internet connects Polarski Cedar Products to the outside world but the business is open year round. Building, moving and dismantling docks continue to be a source of income.

Our last stop in Rhinelander was at the Art Nut. Nancy Paquet, a portrait artist also creates abstracts and landscapes in pastels and colored pencils. In her 70 year career she has won numerous awards.  Her studio is in her living room with a large picture window.
                               I loved her pencil collection.
