Pre-show with a packed audience |
Saturday night's emotions ran the gamete and the full house of midwesterners actually were getting into it, clapping and swaying. Holy moly. Not a common occurrence for this part of the country. They just couldn't help themselves. So much fun.
Natureman and I were lucky enough to be seated amidst a group of UW-Green Bay Theater Performance students and they were beyond ecstatic and appreciative about everything: Lighting, set, choreography, voice and instrumental performance, costumes, props and some say a familiar story line. Did I leave anything out?
Where else can you see over 200 separate costumes, 76 pounds of sequins used, 25 yards of painted silk in the Vogue shoot, over 35 different wigs worn, a costume change in less than 15 seconds, 40 scene shifts, some with automated set pieces that can move in 9 seconds if needed, rotating scenic pieces, and a seasoned cast, some of whom have worked together before. DREAMGIRLS is quite a production.

There even was an interactive board in the foyer asking patrons what their American Dream is... and folks participated by jotting their dream on a post-it.
So Wisconsinites get on the phone (414) 224- 9490 and buy some tickets because the show closes on November 1st.
Don't miss this one. You will be in for a treat.
Here's a youtube link with the cast I saw:DREAMGIRLS

I saw it and loved it! We were on our feet clapping and cheering after the first act and at the end! Very well done!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a magical performance. I'll keep an eye out for it in case they are touring down south this winter.
