Blanco

You may remember Natureman's rule that every living thing in the End of the Rainbow Valley has a job to do. The difficult thing about having farm animals is the fact that some animals are raised for meat. Translated: male goats. Female goats are used for breeding and milk.

Blanco, the friendliest goat we've owned wasn't going on my plate
Blanco, one of the friendliest goats we have had was getting big and his companion days for the other goats were over as far as Natureman was con cerned. It was true, we didn't need 3 goats. But look at that face...

Thank goodness we heard at our last family gathering that Brandan, now 6, and his family would like to have a goat for his 4H project. Whew, Blanco doesn't have to end up in our freezer, he has a 'forever' home.

It was like all the goats knew something was up when Natureman went down to the barn late in the afternoon yesterday. Blanco definitely did not want to go and put on his brakes.

Once I enticed Blanco with some fresh clover and grass, Natureman was able to get him close to the rear open car door and lifted up Blanco's front legs into the car and my job was to lift his rear haunches.  And just like that I was an accomplice in sending Blanco away in the back of Natureman's CR-V.

I imagine Blanco just may get some second looks from passerby motorists as he heads to his new home.

Jacqueline, Blanco's Mom, gives a longing look as Blanco rides off.

Bye Blanco I am not the only one who's going to miss you. It's obvious your Mom, Jacqueline, will miss you too.

Be good, stay safe and enjoy your new abode. It's a whole lot better than the freezer.

Hope to visit you soon.  Geh gesund.

  2. Whew. So glad to hear a happy end of this goat saga. It's nice to know he has a new home where he won't be the featured entree on the menu.
