Caretakers

Becoming a parent is probably one of life's biggest changing events.  No how to manuals can ever prepare a person for all the responsibility this little being will entail.  

Yet before one knows it, the years fly by and the roles are reversed where it is the child who will have to take over the role of caretaker for the parent.  

Society doesn't even come close to preparing us for this stage. So once again it's trial and error as the once child, now an adult, has to figure out how to allow as much independence as possible without infringing on their aging parent's dignity.  Not an easy task.

This past weekend's gathering for Mother's Day gave my siblings and myself more insight as to what lies ahead...

It's serious business but we will do the best we can, adding humor whenever possible along the way.
