NO TIME for POSTPONEMENTS BNSF

Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway's BNSF rail line announced it was reconsidering its intention to replace 5,000 unsafe tanker cars with the newer standard cars next month.

Why? According to BNSF, some clients were not happy with their "proposed" purchase. If this isn't a big red flag, what is? Excuse me,  you are underinsured and you are going to take a bigger risk with a volatile cargo at the public's expense?

This postponement endangers citizens and ecosystems with their hazardous chemicals cargo routes as profits continue to 'roll in' with the moving pipeline.

If BNSF's traffic continues increasing as well as augmenting its trains' length, the probability of accidents also increases.  BNSF railroad crews have been working feverishly since this summer in our area attempting to repair some of the neglected bridges and rails but this infrastructure can't play catch up fast enough.

It's just a matter of time before another accident like Lac-Megantic (47 lives lost) in Canada occurs. Canada has managed to replace substandard cars. The newer tanker car construction prevents overheating with thicker shells and reinforced ends with thermal blankets.

We don't have time for postponements BNSF...

Two different 111A100W1 specification tank cars, both with 263,000-pound (119,000 kg) gross rail load. On the left is a 27,399-US-gallon (103,716 L; 22,814.4 imp gal) capacity tank car with a load limit of 196,500 pounds (89,100 kg), making it suitable for low specific gravity liquids. On the right, a lighter, smaller 16,640-US-gallon (62,989 L; 13,856 imp gal) capacity tank car has a higher load limit of 204,300 pounds (92,700 kg). It is stenciled and placarded for 50% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, which has a specific gravity of 1.5. This car is also equipped with an insulating jacket and external heating pipes to melt frozen contents if necessary.

Readers, please submit concerns about a building a second rail through  marsh and wetlands to the DNR before this Saturday the 17th of January. Spread the word. Here's the link: LINK TO SUBMIT CONCERNS
