Not Quite Basking in Pasque...

It was past time when we usually make the annual trek to the ridge to follow the deer path all the way to the point. It's not only a terrific vista point but that's where we find the small colony of Pasque flowers. The beautiful day Friday lent itself to that hike and we weren't sorry with was a nice breeze and beautiful blue skies to accompany us.

Easter was already a good week ago but as you may have noticed from my constant com-plaining spring's been slow in arriving. And we were indeed still a bit early albeit there were about a dozen Pasque blooms but more were soon to emerge.

The Pasque flower is the first spring flower to bloom even before the bloodroot here. This special crocus like plant manages to grow out of the rock cropped ledge.

OK the Pasque flower is proof spring is coming. We are ready here in the End of the Rainbow Valley. Bring it on...

  1. They are so lovely - I really enjoy those early ephemeral plants the most.

    1. It is such a joy to see a new plant that's not just brown, isn't it?
