Proceed with Caution

One given of driving out in the country is one always has to be on high alert for animals sharing the same road. We had just had the discussion this very afternoon about car accidents involving deer.

There's always some animal in the road/ roadside. Some seasons/ for that matter times of the day   are worse than others with rabbits, snapping turtles, rodents, etc...

Fortunately, we were spared the darting deer and other wildlife on our return drive to the End of the Rainbow Valley , BUT what we didn't expect to see was  -

a runaway horse.

Two men were trying to corral the spooked horse on the small country highway. Finally the guys were successful and got close enough to grab the horse's bridle to take him back home.

As we neared, I noted he had really injured his front leg.  Hopefully it'll heal quickly.

I can't tell you how glad I was that Natureman had had to slow down making those tight road curves.

One just never knows what is awaiting one on a country road. Proceed with caution.

  1. I get nervous if we're cresting a hill too fast. In addition to wild animals I'm always on the look out for a slow moving tractor.
