No Small Potatoes...

Appropriately dealing with Reds on Labor Day...  Just maybe not the Reds you might be thinking of depending on your vintage.

You see we did labor a bit on Labor Day as we dug up the remaining 20 lbs of red potatoes out of the garden. That makes about 60 pounds total of just Reds.

Now add those to the 40 pounds of the white Kennebecs. Looks like there's still a lot of potato soup in our future ...

This garden labor was a prerequisite before heading to 'town' for a couple of errands and hitting the early matinee of 'The Butler,' a true labor story which spanned 8 Presidents.

If you haven't seen this historical story, put it on your list of things to do. Great acting, historical film clips and music make this a must see.

Last year's posting re: potatoes can be found at this link. I told you harvesting is cyclical... note the date Sept. 4 http://chaseburg.blogspot.com/2012/09/digging-for-gold.html

  1. That's a lot of potatoes! Potato soup is always a good option - it's probably my favorite. We haven't been to see The Butler yet, but it's on our list of ones to get to.
