Seattle Market time...

You know we didn't have much time for sightseeing in Seattle before the cruise and then we had the day of services upon our return so we had a lot to pack in the 2 days before it was time to head back to the Midwest...

I find it hard to fathom all we did do but dear Nancy made sure we took in 3 different grocery shopping experiences; the first being at the Ballard Farmer's Market where lots of organic yummy food for dinner and breakfasts were bought. Hot oven fired pizza for lunch in between purchases.

Then dinner that night was extra special having a smorgasbord of our purchases.
(For more pics see my FB album for Ballard Farmers Market.)

Our second market visit was to experience Seattle's Public Pike Market, a huge multi-levelled market with the infamous Starbuck's among

wonderful eateries, a French bakery and the famous ' fish throwing' vendors.

Have you ever seen  flying fish?

This happens whenever a customer purchases a whole fish. Crowds eagerly await a purchase. The fishmongers grab the desired fish and toss it to their buddy behind the counter who catches it amidst the applause of the crowd, and packages it up for its journey home.
Nancy favorite birthday treat comes from this fish vendor who is a bit less into performance.

Lobster tails...

Even the honey comes equipped with its own honey bee! Just kidding.

And besides all the people watching,  great food, there was some incredible city sights too.

Here's the ferris wheel behind the Seattle Aquarium. I hope those fish behave/ they might end up in the market.

It was definitely a feast for the eyes... and the International District's supermarket will just have to wait for another entry...

  1. I love the way they toss the fish around-makes it so much more exciting!

Perhaps Gefilte really means"one who has flown"?
