Bigger is not always better...

I promised one of my 'homies' to take some pics to illustrate what's happening on many blocks in the Heights where we grew up. Take a look at the new and the old construction and tell me if the same thing has happened in your childhood neighborhood.
Note the distance between the two new houses.

Childhood friends (Remember Joe's Hobby Shop?)The Bernhards used to live in the little white house. I am glad that they don't have to look at their neighbors this way every day out their bedroom windows. In my opinion it's like looking out at a huge retaining wall.

And this story is repeated on way too many blocks.

Some have very shoddy construction...

And some use a lot of expensive brick but it still doesn't make it more attractive. What were the architects thinking? I want to believe that they haven't ever seen the proposed building sites nor their finished products.

You know if you want a big house, you should buy enough land to build it in a west suburb with similar homes. Having money obviously doesn't mean having good taste. Perhaps we all should be worrying about who's on the building code commission/ this could happen to you.
