SENSE OF COMMUNITY

SENSE OF COMMUNITY…
Sometimes something bad has to happen to remind you of how good you’ve got it. An accident like Natrueman and I experienced this past week certainly rocked our Valley world as each of us has temporarily lost the use of one hand. Have you ever tried carrying and emptying 50 lbs of animal feed/ milking a goat / preparing a meal with one hand much less two? Let’s just say that it’s a lot easier with the use of two. Today’s entry is about helping others when they need help and experiencing that ‘sense of community.’ What a treat to have Simon, Natureman’s youngest, come help in addition to my spirituality group and congregation who has sent out aid in the forms of prepared food and labor. I have heard from every person in this pic and countless others.
My hair has been rid of glass slivers thanks to Clara(top row 3L) who washed it 3x along with conditioning and combing it out. That’s not an easy feat even with 2 hands. Sandy (top row 1R)helped to strip the bed linens as glass was probably hanging out there too. Sheets were air dried and Sam, Natureman’s eldest remade the bed when he came a’ calling. The Rabbi gave us cab service from the hospital to the End of the Rainbow Valley. Phone calls have been numerous as well as emails and facebook postings of well wishes. Even our neighbors travelled via ATV to pay a visit. Then there are also the kindnesses of strangers like the cyclist who ran from the trail parking lot to provide assistance when she saw us flip, stayed with us until help arrived in addition to sharing her water and the gal at the towing service who went beyond the call of duty emailing me vehicle pics and gathering our possessions from the vehicle so that we wouldn’t have to worry about the glass. The point is sometimes we need help and it sure is nice to experience the kindness of others…

  1. Ain't that the truth. So glad things are looking up and that you're willing to accept and enjoy the kindnesses of others.
