ACTIVISM in the Coulee

Even if we live tucked in the back of a valley in the Coulee we still live in the ‘REAL’ world and certain issues make us leave home more than we’d like… There is an ugly movement happening in our country that is just plain wrong… it has a ‘hate’ agenda that removes so much about what I love and respect about my country. In a year’s time we have been witness to the attack and removal of public programs and this has rekindled my dormant social activism of my college days… WE as a country are moving backwards instead of forwards. WE and I say 'we' because we have elected these officials to represent us and they have not left much unscathed. Bills have been passed that affect almost every public sector whether you are an immigrant, a homosexual, a woman, the middle class/impoverished you have been/ will be affected. Whether it’s education, healthcare, the work place/transportation, We are letting the 1% rule us as they become richer and we as a country become poorer. They have pitted us against each other and I for one am not going to sit idly by while our freedoms are removed. I am sick of all the political ads and phone calls as much as anybody else. BUT you know what? There are people who think that just because they signed a Recall petition, they don’t need to vote in today’s election. This billboard in Richland center represents the lies that have divided us as a state.
We are so fortunate to have the right to VOTE, yet so few take advantage of this right. What other countries would give for this right that we take for granted...

Well today’s the day. It has been over a year since our first trip to Madison to protest Governor Walker’s attack on Wisconsinites. BUT It’s not over today because the US has a lot of work to do and that HEALING is going to take all of us working together...
